Though bees typically like warm weather, the last couple of weeks have been hard for them because there has been a nectar dearth. The bees have been eating more sugar syrup–they will take two quarts a day if I can get it to them.
They have also been more noticeable at the watering hole, which in my yard is a chicken feeder. The feeder is perched about 10 feet off the ground and about 25 yards from the hive, so the bees have an easy flight from the hive to the feeder.
Here’s the view from the feeder.
