I took advantage of the warm, sunny weather on Sunday to check the status of the hives. Each of the hives has a cluster, a queen, and some food, which means they could all survive the winter.
Hive 1, the very first hive I got, has the smallest cluster, but lots of honey.
Hive 2, has a large cluster and honey.
Hive 3, the smallest hive with just one hive body, has a solid cluster but the least honey, so I will feed them to help them make it through the next month.
If they all survive, I plan to split Hive 1 and Hive 2 and increase the hives to five.
